Oldwalls Gower Wedding Photographer & Videographer
As a wedding photography and videographer living in the Gower, I’m incredibly fortunate to have some of Wales’s most beautiful wedding venues right on my doorstep – and there’s no question that Oldwalls is one of the very best.
I feel I can recommend the Oldwalls team from both sides of the fence: as someone who got married with them, and also as a wedding photographer and videographer who has worked with them quite a bit.
Anyhow, when Autumn and Karl contacted me to ask if I’d be available to film their wedding at Oldwalls earlier this summer, I literally jumped for joy. Oldwalls is a simply stunning venue and the abundance of space and natural light makes it a dream venue for wedding videographers like me.
The Morning Preparations
I joined Autumn and her bridal party early in the morning to document their preparations and celebrations. I mean really, if you can’t pop open a bottle of bubbly at 9am on your wedding day, when can you?
The day got even better when I realised my good friend Katie Lancey from Gower Glow had been booked to do everyone’s make up, along with the lovely Sarah from Sarah Marie Hair.
They were doing things in unrestrained style and had booked out Mulberry House, a gorgeous rustic retreat located just a stone’s throw away from Oldwalls. The location couldn’t be more convenient, and allowed me to zip over to get prep shots of Karl as he and his groomsmen arrived, and then make it back to Autumn to film a reveal shot with her dad.
The atmosphere was upbeat and it felt very much like a party.
The Ceremony
It was a beautiful sunny day and the ceremony room at Oldwalls was bathed in glorious sunshine, the huge doors left open to create a breezy indoor-outdoor space.
Both Karl and Autumn had prepared they’re own tear-jerker vows and I must confess, as I do quite often, I choked up on more than one occasion. Their love for one another was really quite something to witness.
The Group and Couple Shots
Autumn and Karl had hired local wedding photographer Karl Baker. We got on really well and I enjoyed filming alongside him as he set up the group and couple shots. And yes it’s always nice when the wedding photographer factors in a little time for me, as the videographer, just to get a couple of shots with more movement.
Autumn and Karl’s friends were a lot of fun too and I made a conscious effort to document them playing and messing around whilst watching on from the sidelines and waiting for the time to be called.
The Speeches
As with Fairyhill, the dining/reception space at Oldwalls is bright and airy, with loads of natural light. This made for some fantastic shots during the speeches, with the greenery and slowly setting sun shining behind each speaker.
The Evening Celebrations
Then it was time for the first dance, which Autumn and Karl spontaneously decided to have down at the pagoda overlooking Oldwalls’s famous lake. I say this quite literally, the sparks began to fly as soon as the music started – as did the fireworks.
As always, I hung around after the first dance just to see if there was anything else I could capture. I’m glad I did as there was a fun sparkler tunnel to end my filming off perfectly.
Overall it was the perfect wedding, as it always is at Oldwalls and Fairyhill mind you, and I felt privileged to be present to document it all.

Note: As well as this short highlight film, I also produced a much longer and more detailed full documentary film, which included the ceremony and speeches in full, as well as much more of the evening celebrations.
